Starting a trip tags waypoints/field notes you mark as you go into a "traveled path," and lets you export the whole outing (route + path + notes) as GPX or KMZ when you stop.
Plan a sequence of bearing + distance legs. Once started, the compass steers you left/right to stay on each leg, then auto-advances when the leg's distance is covered (via GPS + pace tracking).
Prevents the screen from locking so the compass, pacer, and GPS keep working continuously. Uses noticeably more battery — leave off unless you need continuous tracking.
Entering your height auto-fills a suggested eye height (~93.5% of height) — still yours to override, since how you hold the phone varies.
Auto-calibrating stride length from your normal walking — no action needed. You can also calibrate manually below.
Walk a straight line of at least 20 paces, then tap "Stop & Calculate". Uses GPS start/end displacement ÷ step count.
iOS requires a tap to grant compass and motion access. Do this once per session if readings show "--".
Photos in field notes need persistent storage (a browser guarantee against your data being silently cleared under storage pressure). Without it, field notes stay text-only.
